On Saturday the Bart Cummings-trained Dariana left the drama of her Queensland Oaks failure behind when she easily won the $500,000 Group 1 Channel Seven Queensland Derby (2400m) at Eagle Farm.
Redoute’s Choice filly Dariana left her open field of rivals behind when she claimed an impressive four and a half length win ahead of $3.30 favourite Kutchinsky, with last start Queensland Oaks winner Miss Keepsake ($8) running a gallant third just a long-head further back.
Shaping up as the most promising staying filly of the season, Dariana has now won three of her nine career starts for $451,160 in prizemoney and on Saturday gave esteemed trainer Bart Cummings his 260th Group 1 success.

Eagle Farm’s meeting over the weekend marked the close of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, with the headline event, the $1 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) taken out by the reigning champion Black Piranha.
